Ask Me No Question And Me Tell You No Lie:

I was going to write about the 2003 Bloggies and why I had voted for the blogs I had voted for. But the site is down, which means I haven't voted yet, and therefore I'll have to write about that later.
Rasmus over at Acutecut suggests making a Danish aquivalent, which I think is a fun idea. I'm sure there are a lot of interesting Danish blogs that I haven't visited yet, so this could be a way of being introduced to blogs you don't normally visit.

So while I'm waiting for people to come over to watch the Arsenal game I've decided to take The Great Procrastination Survey of 2003, which I found over at Bolt of Blue. It got a bit long, so I decided not to put in on the front page, so you have to click More to see it.

The Great Procrastination Survey of 2003

[1] If you could be instantly fluent in one other language that you currently do not read or speak, which would it be?:
French or Spanish. I took Spanish (as well as English, German, and Latin) in school, so I can string together a few sentences, but I'm hardly fluent. And the only French I know I've pick up from watching Eddie Izzard shows (Oui, je suis un travesti, mais pas un travesti typical. Je suis un travesti executive… Un travesti d’action!)

[2] If you could have the starring role in any film already made, what would it be?:
It's tough to pick just one, but Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs would've been pretty cool. John Wayne's character in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is also up there and so is Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands.

[3] If you could receive one small package this very moment, who would it be from and what would be in it?:
Well, the best would be as much money as possible from anyone who had it to spare. But right now I'd settle for the return of my Seinfeld tapes from the girl I lent them to years ago.

[4] If you could own one painting from any collection in the world but were not able to sell it, which work of art would you select?:
Obviously, it would be a Warhol, but I'm not sure which one. I've always loved Ethel Scull Thirty-Six Times (also, it was his first commisioned portrait), but a Mao painting or the Yellow Electric Chair painting would also be nice.

[5] If you were instantly able to play one musical instrument perfectly that you never have played before, what would it be?:
The drums. I've tried to learn to play a couple of times, but for some reason it's impossible for me to stomp a different beat with my foot than the one I'm hitting with my hands. I'm a bit of a spazz that way.

[6] If you could possess one supernatural ability, what would it be?:
Super speed. I hate waiting and I hate when things are moving slowly, so if I had super speed I could get a million things done in an hour and then chill the rest of the day.

[7] If you had to choose the most valuable thing you ever learned what would it be?:
No matter what happens everything's going to be alright. That might not apply to everyone, but it has worked for me.

[8] If you could have only one piece of furniture in your house, what would it be?:
Does a television set qualify as furniture? If not, then a bed.

[9] If you could read the private diary of someone you know personally, whose diary would it be?:
I don't know. I think I pretty much know what I need to know about most my friends.

[10] If you could have one person you know as your slave (well-paid and cared for) domestic laborer for one month, who would it be?:
I really don't have room for a slave right now, so I'd settle for having my brother swing by with pizzas and snacks once in a while (and he already does that now).

[11] If you could choose the way you will die, how would you want it to happen?:
I'd like to die not unlike Icarus in a freak jetpack accident 500 hundred years from now.

[12] If you could wake up tomorrow to learn that the major newspaper headlines were about you, what would you want them to say?:
"I'm leaving Tom to be with him", says Penelope Cruz about her infatuation with unknown, but charming, Danish weblogger and aspiring music journalist John Fogde.

[13] If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?:
Pay off my debts to the IRS, the student loans department, my parents, and then I'd use the remaining grand to buy new speakers.

[14] If you could choose the music at your funeral, what would it be, and who would play it?:
I think I'll be perfectly happy with whatever my 23-year-old trophy wife picks out, but I wouldn't mind if Nick Drake's Bryter Layter album was playing.

[15] If you could take away the vocal cords of any person, who would it be?:
So many blowhards to choose from. I'd probably choose Danish politician Pia Kjærsgaard, since people like Jerry Falwell don't affect my everyday life in the same way she does.

[16] If you had to describe your idea of the perfect mate, how would you do it?:
Smart, cute, funny, patient, and affectionate.

[17] If you had to have a personal friend redecorate your house, who would you pick to do it?:
If I had an unlimited budget I'd choose my friend Thomas, who's an architect and furniture afficionado. If I had a limited budget I'd choose my friend Erik, who is as fascinated with the fabulous world of IKEA as I am.

[18] If you had to choose the worst home you've ever lived in, which one was it?:
I stayed for four weeks in a university dorm (the same dorms as my sister and brother lives in) and I've lived in a house with rats, but I still think the first place I lived was worse. It was several miles outside of town and it was the smallest room I've lived in since I moved away from home. The place wasn't even that bad even if it had a tendency to be pretty cold. It was just a bit isolated (and there was no cable!).

[19] If you could have prevented one thing from happening between you and a friend, what would it have been?:
I've thought about this one for a lot longer than the rest, but nothing really comes to mind. I don't recall betraying anyone or being betrayed. I haven't had any major falling outs with anyone, so besides one ridiculous drunken argument I had with a friend years ago I can't really think of anything.

[20] If you could learn the total number of hours you have spent in your life doing one thing, what would it be?:
Well, what the hell would I do with that kind of information? I think if I ever learned the number of hours I've used watching television, playing guitar, surfing the net, or drinking coffee, and then compared it to the time I've spent working or studying I'd get very depressed.

[21] If you had to describe yourself as a child in one word, what would it be?:
Is know-it-all one word? Otherwise, annoying probably also fits.

[22] If you could own a single prop from any film ever made what would you
choose?:
The falcon statue from The Maltese Falcon springs to mind and so do Lloyd Dobler's and Silent Bob's coats from Say Anything and Clerks respectfully.

So this took longer than planned. I started out around 2 o'clock and didn't get it finished before people showed up. So since then I've seen the game, had pizza and beer, and watched Jack Dee, which means by now the bloggies are back up again.
