In The Blizzard Of '77:
Sometime mother nature can be a real bitch! I got up at 4:30 today, so I could be at the airport in time for my 7:15 flight to Oslo only to find out that all flights out of Aarhus were cancelled. We've had a major blizzard cover the country in snow this weekend, so public transport has collapsed as per usual. So instead of jetting off to the Norwegian capitol for lunch and an interview with Athlete I sat around the airport for about two hours and then went back home. Thankfully, I got a hold of the Norwegian press people when I got home, so I was able to conduct the interview over the phone. I chatted with Tim Athlete for about twenty minutes about the new album and their upcoming tour ("When it comes to Roskilde, we're keen - not the band") and it went very well, so look out for that in the next issue of Gaffa. Tonight, I'm going down to see the Evan Dando show. I've probably mentioned this ten times already, but I'm really excited about it. I think he's great and the solo record is his best work ever, so I can't wait to hear the tracks live. Other than that it's just work, work, work especially since I couldn't go anywhere Saturday night. But I don't mind the work at all. Tomorrow, I'll be interviewing Thirteen Senses and doing some other stuff as well and it is - as the say in the US - all good. Posted by John Fogde at 18:07

Norwegian Wood:
Things here are a little crazy right now. Since I finished my three weeks of work experience at Gaffa I've stayed on as a freelance writer for them, which has given me quite a bit of work. Currently, I'm working on a large article on British bands, which means I have to write and combine a bunch of smaller articles and do interviews, which is a lot of fun, but really time consuming. Also, Monday I'm going to Oslo to interview Athlete, which should be quite an experience. A little hectic though, as I have to fly back the same day, because Evan Dando is playing a show here, which I've been looking forward to for ages. I also had a job interview this week. It was for a job as assistant in a music organisation, but after the interview it was pretty clear this wasn't the job for me. The actual job sounded incredibly boring and it wasn't what I thought I had applied for. It was only for six months, didn't pay well at all, and it would require me to move meaning I would have to get a room somewhere and pay rent two places. There were even more things that would cause problems, so all through the interview I was waiting for the boss to say something, which could make up for all the negatives. But since that never happened I just decided I should just make it clear I wasn't interested instead of maybe getting called to a second interview. But on the plus side I did get called to an interview, which means there was something in my application and resumé they liked. So at least there's that. The next week I'll be working like crazy, but Thursday I'm going to Copenhagen to see The Frames at Loppen. I really like "Burn the Maps" and I'm excited about seeing Outspan Foster in person. Friday, some friends are DJing at Stengade 30, so I'll be going to that and earlier the same day I'm going to an art opening at the V1 Gallery. I think the rest of the weekend will be spent chillin' with a lady friend, so that's sounds like a pretty good conclusion to a long workweek to me. Last week I went to see The Raveonettes and I thought it was a smashing show. Sharin Foo now plays guitar, which means they've added a bass player to the line-up for more noisy fun. The old songs were great as always, but out of the eight new songs they played ("Pretty in Black" is out on April 26th) two or three were great and Love in a Trash Can was fantastic. I was fairly disappointed by "Chain Gang of Love", but I think the new one will be really cool. I don't get to update the boxes on the right as often as I'd like, but right now I'm mostly listening to the new records from The Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, The Kills, Maximo Park, Iron & Wine, and Low. But there's a deadline screaming at me, so I better get back to work. Posted by John Fogde at 10:16
